Looking Back At 2011

posted on: Friday, December 30, 2011

Well, it's that time again. I've rounded up a bunch of photos representing some of my best memories of 2011.

JANUARY
JP and I rang in 2011 with some of our best friends who were visiting from Austrailia. It was also the month before my wedding so there was a lot of celebrating with friends and family including a wedding shower and bachelorette party
FEBRUARY
JP and I got married!!!! Such an amazing month! We were lucky enough to celebrate with a small group of our closest friends and family for an unforgettable week in Los Cabos, Mexico!
 MARCH
JP and I took a quick trip to San Francisco in March. It was my fourth time visiting California, and mine and JP's second trip to San Francisco together. We had so much fun walking everywhere to explore the city. March is also the month that I attended my first PARK event, PARKshow. PARKshow 2011 was great, but I am really looking forward to PARKshow 2012!!
APRIL
In April my friend Chelsey and I attended Fabricated. This was such a fun night of meeting and getting to know some of the amazing people involved in Calgary's fashion community.
MAY
May was Alberta Fashion Week, a whirlwind week full off millions of photos, crazy blogging, nightly fashion shows, and meeting many new friends. My favourite part was getting invited by the Smashbox/Bourjois makeup artists to get my makeup done each night! So fun.
JUNE
June was my one year blogaversary! I celebrated by wearing my custom dress made my good friend Sheri of notsoseemless and ate cupcakes with JP. June was also the month that some of my best friends had their University Convocation. I took a mini road trip to Lethbridge to join in the celebrations. I seriously have the best friends in the world!
JULY
PITW XI - JP's annual birthday camping trip was in July. The weather was perfect! In July some of my best friends and I also took a day trip out to Bragg Creek and Elbow falls for coffee and sun bathing over looking the waterfalls.
AUGUST
JP and I took our mini road trip to Southern Alberta in August. We travelled to Milk River to see Writing-On-Stone park and to Waterton. My favourite part was definitely exploring the hoodoos in Writing-On-Stone. August was also PARKluxe, which was definitely my favourite fashion event of the year!
SEPTEMBER
Some of my favourite memories of 2011 are from my New York trip, and these photos are from my favourite moment in New York. It was rainy for the first few days of my trip, so at the first sign of a sun one morning, Mikhaila and I headed up to the roof of her sisters place in Brooklyn to relax with our morning coffees and take in the view. September was also my birthday, mine and JP's eight year anniversary and I bought a new car! I was sad to say goodbye to my little red car after 9 years together, but it's so nice to have a new car with AC and a radio!
OCTOBER
In October I joined PARK as a Fashion Intern and helped out with my first event, The Art of Fashion. It was so much fun to be behinds the scene of a fashion show and I'm looking forward to being a part of PARK in 2012!
NOVEMBER
In November I had the opportunity to guest blog for the whole month over at the Bellissima blog. I had no idea that guest blogging would lead to contributing to the Bellissima blog each month! I'm so excited that I'll continue to be blogging over at the Bellissima blog into 2012!!
DECEMBER
My little sister stayed overnight at my place in December while my parents went out to a Christmas party.
My sister loves painting, and so do I so I stocked up on canvas's, and glitter to decorate our paintings. She painted the full moon and I painted a bottle of Chanel No. 5.

And that's the 2011 round up, click here if you want to check out my 2010 recap! I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I just had the most amazing day!!! PARK had a photoshoot today for their upcoming event in March PARKshow, and as I've mentioned previously I've recently joined the team as a fashion intern, so I got to tag along to the shoot. I took so many behind the scenes photos, and I can't wait to share them with you!

In other news, a couple weeks ago I went Christmas shopping with my ever so sweet friend Amy of Flying a Kite.  I always have so much fun with Amy. We giggle and gab for hours, and throwing some shopping into the mix just makes hanging out that much more fun. We both found a gift for our significant others, then chatted some more over pizza and smoothies. Amy and I plan to post monthly on our adventures, so watch out for another post next month!

Noir Lash Lounge

posted on: Friday, December 16, 2011

Noir Lash Lounge is a Vancouver based company specializing in semi-perminent lash extensions and it just opened a location in Calgary! On Tuesday I was invited to Noir Lash Lounge to try out their services.   I'd heard of lash extensions before, and just recently had heard even more talk about it, but was a little hesitant to try it out myself. The staff at Noir Lash Lounge was extremely helpful in answering my millions of questions (How long will it take, how long will it last, are they heavy, can I take them off if I don't like them, what if I can't stop once I start?...) and the atmosphere was so relaxing, you could hardly feel nervous once inside.  The experience of getting my lashes done was very relaxing as well. I stretched out on a chaise lounge, closed my eyes and chatted away with my lash technician. I could hardly even feel her adding the extensions to my lashes, and when it was done, I couldn't even feel them!

My first reaction when I peered into a mirror was a bit of shock. Almost like when you get a new haircut. You don't recognize yourself for a moment, even though the difference is subtle. I was also a little self conscious at first, worried that everyone would be starring at me. I'm now on day 4 with my new lashes, and most of the time I don't even remember they are there until I look in the mirror, and even then I have to remind myself, "Those aren't your real lashes!" I was worried that having lash extensions would make my lashes look outrageous, but my mom didn't comment on them, so I'm guessing they look fairly natural. One thing I am really loving is not wearing mascara. I have a feeling I'll be heading back to Noir Lash Lounge is 3 or so weeks to get a touch up. I love these lashes! Thank you so much Noir Lash Lounge!

Memories of Fall

posted on: Monday, December 12, 2011

I guess I should post these photos before it gets too far into winter weather. We are officially now in a winter wonderland in Calgary. Usually I dread the winter months, but this year something feels a little different. Although I am missing the warmer weather, I actually don't mind the snow so far this year. I'm looking forward to the outdoor rink near mine and JP's house freezing over so we can ice-skate with hot chocolate!
