Last Days of Summer

posted on: Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Well, autumn is almost here. JP and I went camping with his band No Days over the weekend, and the temperature dropped drastically over the night! We woke up to frost covering everything in the morning. I guess that will be the last camping trip of the summer.

One thing I'm really looking forward to this fall is heading back to school! My school starts a little later into fall, but I think an October start date is perfect. I'm actually so excited to start hitting the books again.

White and Blue

There are some major summer clearance sales going on at Joe Fresh right now. I was able to pick up these amazing shoes for only $9! I was pretty excited. This skirt is one of the items that I found at the clothes swap a couple months ago. It was a couple sizes too big for me, but I really liked the colour and the material, so I decided to just grab it. I took it to my friend Sheri of Notsoseemless and she was able to alter the skirt, and I'm absolutely loving it. I've been wearing it non-stop.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend! JP and I are going to the Exposure Wrap Up Party tonight  and camping tomorrow.

Running Essentials

posted on: Wednesday, August 22, 2012

I little while ago I did a blog post about my first 10 km run and some of the running gear on my wishlist.  Since I've been totally obsessed with running lately, I thought I would show you some of my running essentials right now.

My brother has been running with me and he persuaded me to switch over to a barefoot running style. It's supposed to be a more natural way of running, and so far I'm loving it and I'm loving my Vibram FiveFinger runners! The weather has been scorching hot lately, so I picked up the lululemon speed shorts to run in. They have no seams, so they are pretty comfy. Running with the iPod nano has been great because you can track your distance, pace, and time with the Nike+ app. I only bought the fuel belt over the weekend, so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. I bought it anticipating I would need it on longer run, since we are slowly increasing our distance each week working up to a half-marathon in October.  I really love my lululemon swifty tech top. It has mesh venting, and is very light weight. I usually wear it for early morning or evening runs. Lastly are my sunnies. These Ryder sunglasses are a a "hybrid" of a sport and casual style. The best part is that they have grips on the nose, so they stay put while running.

Mountain View

This is my friend Linz. We have decided that we were twins in a past life. We have way too many similarities and things in common. These photos were taken on our day trip to Canmore for our friend Carmela's bachelorette party. There is nothing like spending the day in the mountains. It's absolutely my favourite part about living in Alberta.

I love this hat, but it's seriously gigantic on me!

Canmore

Over the long weekend one of my good friends, Carmela had her bachelorette party in Canmore. I was unable to make it out to the party the first night, but my friends Mel and Linz joined me for a day trip out to Canmore for the Saturday. It was beautiful weather in Canmore, and it was so lovely to spend the day with some of my best friends. We spent the afternoon chatting away in a gorgeous hotel suite, then walking around Canmore checking out some of the art galleries and boutiques. We ended off with ice cream from the ice cream bus, then back to the hotel to make lasagna and sip on champaign and wine.

Some of mine and JP's good friends had their engagement party out in the country a couple weeks ago. It was a warm evening and perfect weather to spend outdoors with friends listening to music and chatting around a fire pit. A great way to celebrate an engagement.

I loved my friend Cassidy's pastel maxi dress and jelly shoes, so I asked her if she minded tagging along for some outfit photos. JP took some cute photos of us together. We kept giggling and making jokes that it felt like we were getting engagement photos done. haha.

Here is a glimpse into my life lately via Instagram. Still loving running and in love with my Nike Free Run's and my Vibram FiveFinger barefoot runners. My brother just lent me the book, Born To Run, and I'm excited to start reading it.  I received an awesome package of hair products from John Freida, and mine and JP's house is coming a long! We just finished picking out the majority of our options. I never could have imagined how hard it would be to pick out tile! It seriously took us hours, then we found out we had to pick out grout colours (who knew??) and we pretty much just went with whatever at that point. haha. It was a fun experience though and I can't wait to see how everything turns out together.  And that's the update.
